New Investigator Career Session & Lunch

12:05-14:15 Friday 25 August 2017

Are you almost done with your PhD studies and transitioning to a post-doc position? Are you a senior post-doc looking for a faculty position? Or are you exploring the options of leaving academia for an alternative path?

If this is the case, please register for our transitions-focused free of charge career session! We will have a panel of people who have made the transitions from PhD to post-doc, post-doc to PI, and academia to publishing/industry that you can interact with during round table discussions. So, you will be able to actively interact with and ask any question to seniors in the field and New Investigators Committee members that already went through these transition processes. Lunch is included.

PhD to post-doc transitions will be featured by Sofie Singbrant (University of Lund, Sweden, transition Sweden to Australia) and by the NIC members Tiago Luis (transition inside European countries), Daniel Lucas, Novella Guidi and Adam Wilkinson (transition from Europe to USA). Post-doc to faculty transition will be featured by Ross Levine (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, USA) and the NIC members Nina Cabezas-Wallscheid (transition inside European countries), Eric Pietras and Heather O’Leary (transition inside the USA). The alternative path transition will be featured by Daniel Klimmeck (transition post-doc to editor, EMBO journal) and by an industry representative.

Join the ISEH New Investigators Committee for this year’s Technology Session “Hands-on CRISPR/Cas9 Methods”. Recent CRISPR/Cas9-based technologies have revolutionized our ability to edit the genome. However, deciding on the best CRISPR/Cas9 approach and optimizing such experiments have proved complex. Here, we will bring together a panel of experts with hands-on experience of CRISPR/Cas9 in a wide range of experimental systems in hematology. This lunchtime panel discussion provides a unique opportunity to get expert advice on experimental design and top tips on optimizing your protocols. This Technology Session will complement the upcoming ISEH Webinar on “How to get your blood(y) CRISPR/Cas9 to work - Tips and Tricks from Experts in the Hematology Field”.
