It is my great privilege to take on the role of Coordinator and Editor of Connections in Hematology & Stem Cells. Allow me to introduce myself: I received my PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, for my work on Interferon Receptors. In 1996, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, where I worked for almost 10 years in the laboratory of Dr. Keith Humphries, researching the involvement of Hox genes in normal and leukemic hematopoiesis. In 2005, I was appointed Director of Biology of Chemokine Therapeutics Inc., where I led a team of scientists that discovered and brought to early development novel chemokine analogs for the treatment of cancer and cardiovascular disease. My working relationship with ISEH started two years ago when I became the Managing Editor of Experimental Hematology, a role that shifted this year to Scientific Editor.
As far as my new duties as Coordinator and Editor of Connections, I'm excited to work with all of you to produce a newsletter that will continue to bring you the latest updates on the Society and Annual Scientific Meeting. I am pleased to introduce a few new sections; including an expanded section for industry news highlights and career information. I am also proud to introduce our Members' Corner: a community-driven feature providing news and updates on our members' career achievements, including new jobs, promotions, prestigious grants, awards, and publications in high impact journals.
I hope that you all enjoy the newsletter, and I welcome all your content contributions. If you have any material or suggestions for the content of future newsletters please contact me at email@example.com
